Title: Perturbative QCD and the Search for a Light Higgs Boson at the LHC

Abstract: We discuss some recent progress in perturbative QCD calculations for collider processes, focusing mostly on the search for a light Higgs boson (mass < 140 GeV) at the Large Hadron Collider. The gluon fusion subprocess, g g -> gamma gamma, is an important component of the background to this search, but it had only been computed at leading order. We find that the QCD corrections to this subprocess are quite modest. We also study kinematic features of the full QCD background -- photon isolation, and angular distributions -- versus the Higgs signal, which might be used to increase the sensitivity of the Higgs search.
