Title:
Neutrino Oscillations, Shortcuts in Extra Dimensions and LSND
Abstract:
After summarising the current status of the possible
explanations for the LSND observations, I describe one in particular
in some detail. This is one in which the sterile neutrino mixing with the
flavor ones propagates in the bulk (extra dimension) and travels at a
different effective speed than the active one. This gives rise to a new
resonance which allows an explanation of the LSND effect, and at the same
time satisfies all constraints from various null results such as Bugey and
CDHS, avoids the problems with atmospheric and solar data which plague the
conventional sterile mixing scenarios, and makes striking predictions for
several experiments, especially Mini-Boone and a stopped pion source at SNS.
